County Illegally Trespassing on SLP Land -- who's liable?

The issue of tresspass was brought to the Board's attention in November of 2017. It was requested because SLP is being used as the county's substitute "yard" for the Jemez. The county brings in and leaves machinery to move and replace a bumper every time they need sand, adding more obstruction, traffic, noise and stench to the area. A survey by a resident was requested to be conducted to determine the extent of the trespass and action was needed. As of May 2018, a survey confirms that the county is encroaching on SLP land putting property owners at risk of liable if there is an accident on the county cinder pile or jersey bumpers.

The county has taken unauthorized liberties to expand it's maintenance yard operations on SLP land next to the fire station without permissions. Not only are they trespassing on SLP property by recently constructing jersey bumpers around a sand pile, used for SLP, and the Jemez area in general. Any injuries cause by the cement bumpers or the cinder pile while on SLP land are a liability to property owners.

As stated by one county employee, the county jersey bumpers were put in place because one SLP owner was stealing from their cinder pile and the pile was used as a motorcross for trucks and ATV's.

What action the Board is going to take is still unknown.
